Telephone credit card scam

There is currently a telephone 'scam' ongoing regarding credit cards.
Callers claiming to represent a credit card company will ask about a recent false transaction claimed to be debitted to your account and in order to replace the amount, will ask for some card details ie. the security digits on the rear
of the card. The caller will sound very businesslike and offer a telephone number to contact in case of doubt. Please beware however as this is a deception. Never pass security details over the phone or to an untrusted source.
Always phone your credit card company to discuss such matter using the telephone number found on the back of your card or your latest credit card statement - do not ring phone numbers provided by unverified callers.
If you require any security advice, please contact North Yorkshire Police on 0845 60 60 247.
