The JAG is a joint action group which meets quarterly and covers the whole Osgoldcross area. Attendees are the Police, Selby Distict Council officials, and any member of the public who chooses to turn up. The meeting takes the form of an open discussion of issues in the localty and reports back on progress since the last meeting and utimately a vote to decide which items are going to be targeted in coming quarter.
For those who have not attended already I can highly recommend attendance. It is a very successful forum and an effective way of seeing democracy in action and getting something done!
At the February meeting the following issues were discussed
Eggborough;- Parking on the pavements is of major concern to the residents.
The problem was debated to great length, it was finally agreed that the solution to the problem was installation of bollards, but these could not be installed until the development had been completed.
Hensall;- Hazel Old Lane, parking on grass verges and HGV vehicles speeding and using this road as a short cut.
Kellington;- Fly tipping; A645 traffic using the village as means of bypass when there any problems on the main road. Parking on the A19 and Kellington Lane when Euro Auctions are taking place. Police, Kellington Parish Council and Euro Auction Management are making a concerted effort to persuade attendees to use the huge car park that is available.
Kirk Smeaton;- Off-road Bikers and Fly Tipping on Long Lane. Speeding vehicle on Water Lane, Wentedge Road and vehicles leaving the Shoulder of Mutton on Sunday afternoon - all were discussed at great length.
Off-road bikers, Police have made some progress but not enough, as they are still coming into village on most Sundays.
Fly-Tipping. Police stated that this was a difficult one as they had clear identities of people committing the offence. Environmental Services at Selby have arranged Surveillance Equipment which should be available in 6 weeks time.
Speeding Vehicles on Water lane, Wentedge Road and vehicles leaving the Shoulder of Mutton on Sunday afternoons.
The cases to receive priority for next 3 months are as follows;-
